Understanding BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS)
The Compulsory Registration Scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and is operated by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under Scheme II of Schedule II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

Laboratory Testing

Upon satisfactory evaluation, BIS issues a unique 8-digit Registration Number (R-XXXXXXXX) allowing the manufacturer to affix the official BIS CRS Standard Mark on goods and packaging.
