DPL License

WPC DPL : Dealer Possession License

A Dealer Possession License (DPL) is a mandatory authorization in India issued by the Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing to entities that import, sell, or stock wireless equipment.

In telecom, DPL stands for Dealer Possession License. This is a permit issued by the Indian Department of Telecommunications’ Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing to entities that sell, keep, or move wireless equipment in India. The DPL ensures that the handling of wireless devices adheres to laws, prevents misuse, and complies with India’s frequency usage regulations

The DPL is issued to authorized dealers of wireless equipment to possess, stock, and sell radio frequency devices. It is essential for companies involved in trading radio communication equipment like walkie-talkies and radio modems.

All distributors/dealers of any wireless equipment who are individuals or a company registered under Companies Act 2013. DPL is for selling/stocking (Dealers), while NDPL is for simply possessing or using wireless equipment without trading. The DPL ensures that authorized players operate in the market, preventing the misuse of spectrum resources

DPL vs. NDPL
While DPL is for trade, the NDPL (Non-Dealer Possession License) is for entities that own and use wireless equipment for internal operations (like a logistics company using walkie-talkies in a warehouse) but do not sell them.
