\"\"<\/a>BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS\u00a0 (<\/span><\/span>BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SAFETY OF BIS TOYS<\/strong>)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Safety of Toys<\/strong> as per has been brought under compulsory BIS certification with effect from 01\/09\/2020 as per Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020 issued by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In pursuance of the above Order, BIS has initiated the process of grant licence to<\/span>
\nmanufacturers of toys for use of BIS Standard Mark as per Scheme I of Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.<\/span>
\nThose domestic toy manufacturers who intend to apply for a BIS licence may do so online from BIS website www.bis.gov.in by following the path [Conformity Assessment>Product Certification>Apply Online] OR\u00a0https:\/\/www.manakonline.in\/MANAK\/login<\/a> (Please register yourself on the portal before proceeding further) Foreign Manufacturers who intend to apply for a BIS licence may follow the process of applying for a BIS licence under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme which is available on BIS website www.bis.gov.in by following the path [Conformity Assessment>FMCS]<\/span><\/p>\n

For the purpose of BIS certification, toys have been classified into following 2 types:<\/span>
\nS. No. <\/span>Type Applicable Primary Standard <\/span><\/p>\n

IS 9873 (Part 1):2019<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u00a0(1)Non Electric Toys (these are ordinary toys such\u00a0 as rattles, Dolls, Puzzles, etc. which do not have any function dependent on electricity)<\/span><\/p>\n

IS 15644:2006\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>(2) Electric Toys (these are toys which have at least one function dependent on electricity)<\/span><\/p>\n

Manufacturers while applying for a licence, may choose one of the above applicable primary standards based on the type of toy for which licence is required. If licence is required for more than one type of toy, separate applications shall be made for each<\/span>
\ntype. (However, samples shall be tested by BIS for conformity to the primary standard and the secondary standards which are applicable i.e. IS 9873 parts 2,3,4,7, and 9 etc.)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HOW TO APPLY FOR GRANT OF BIS LICENCE FOR SAFETY OF TOYS<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Toys certification is applicable to both Domestic and Foreign manufacturer.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Domestic Manufacturer Certification<\/strong>\u00a0Under this scheme, licence is granted to domestic toy manufacturers (as per Scheme-I). All applications are to be made using option 1 and submission can be done online.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS)<\/strong>: Foreign manufacture can submit duly filled-in and complete application along with requisite fees to authority. Foreign applicant can also nominate an Indian Resident as an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR) while submitting the application. The application also requires manual submission.<\/span>
